EMULE Question
« on: December 05, 2013, 03:57:47 AM »
Hi

I recently set up emule following Atavus' instructions (thank you!), however, I chose Socks 4 (per the instructions) which has later been updated to Socks 5. I connect always using Proxied connection.

Has my IP been exposed by using Socks 4 instead of Socks 5?
IS there a better P2P app than EMULE, with detailed set up instructions?

When P2P first started then it was great, now I personally think most P2P apps are a waste of time. To many junk files and viruses these days on the P2P networks.

For Music however Soulseek is still pretty decent;

If you need to download for free then save your sanity and stick to Torrents, here's a pretty good torrent search engine;

If you can afford a small monthly fee Usenet is the way to go for the speed of your connectivity.

Take it from someone that has done this for as long as this stuff has been around, but if you must try and go down the P2P path here's a link for P2P apps;

And FileSharingTalk to learn;

Thanks Slacker!

Any thoughts on if my IP was revealed from me using Socks4 instead of Socks5 in the Emule config?

If you made a connection through it then you would of been on the VPN...

Also, if you're a full subscriber (30 days and up), we provide a shared, freeleech account on a private tracker. Check the Bonus page in the user portal for more details. Should help cut down on the junk and viruses.
