some doubts from a newbie
« on: July 21, 2009, 12:04:47 PM »
hi, i'm new to vpn. may i know if those connected to vpn will share the same public IP address?
if so, will that affect the downloads from megaupload or rapidshare ... etc, saying that your ip is currently downloading something?

bolehroute, yes. You'll likely get something like "a download from this ip is going on, please try again later" bla bla bla

vpn (private/public tracker) will not affect browsing, unless you deliberately make it work with your browser.

an easy way to find out, just go to http://www.whatismyip.com. If you see your own ip, that means you're not masked by vpn, and vice versa.

unmetered... hmm...... so far i haven't come across any bandwidth quota :P only speed cap for boleh...route i think

Actually for BolehRoute, the IP assigned to you is not in use by other people while you are using it so you shouldn't be receiving that message.

View above. It's not a private IP in that it can be recycled and used by other users when you disconnect but it will be unique to you when you are connected.

Surfing and HTTP downloads are not accelerated by VPN. In certain cases a VPN will help but technically it shouldn't. As such we make no guarantees on speed when surfing/http downloading.
