Title: Error
Post by: cwitht on April 18, 2014, 06:12:06 PM
Hi

I have been using BolehVPN for a while, recently I got an error (log below), something to do with failure to retrieve configuration keys.

I have reinstalled with the latest version of BolehVPN (242) and it still comes up. Please help.

SUCCESS: download 0 bytes user profile to local.

SUCCESS: download 0 bytes config file to local.

Hi there,

Please try accessing https://mainssh.bolehvpn.net and see if this works.

Are you on a personal internet line? or is this from work / school?

Yes I can access the site (not through VPN). Personal internet.

Any antivirus / firewalls installed? Try a quick reinstall of the BolehVPN client, uninstall then reboot your system. Download a fresh installer from our website and run that as admin.

Done all that, which is why I'm here. Same error message after fresh install and shutting off firewall.

FYI, error message:

Retrieval of configuration and keys failed.
Please try again later or contact Support at support@bolehvpn.net

Kind of problematic because I've already activated my subscription...

Try accessing this directly.

If you are able to access this link in a web browser, then the problem lies on your side with something blocking our client. I suggest a complete and clean uninstall of both antivirus and firewall and see if this works.

Alternatively, you could use OpenVPN GUI instead, https://bolehvpn.net/serv_bolehvpn_inst02old.php this is our installation guide

So... not entirely sure what happened but  I got it working. For posterity I will note what I did.

Yesterday I shut down Comodo firewall (i.e. exited the application). This did not solve the problem.

Today, I didnt quit comodo but turned off the firewall and defense security features. I also turned off Microsoft Security Essentials real-time protection. After doing this, I started the Boleh GUI, this worked. I then re-enabled the features one by one and they all seemed to work fine.

Not sure if it was on my end or not but just in case it was, this might help someone.
