Hello. I was in Taipei a couple weeks ago and using BolehVPN. I don't fully understand the technical differences between the connection methods. I usually default to surf-streaming mode. When trying to access xnxx.com, I got a page that indicated the site was blocked. Not shocking, so I tried Fully-Routed All. I got the same response. Proxied-All: same response.
This indicates 1 of the following:
- Even in fully-routed or proxied-all, the content of my connection was being detected, and blocked.
- The VPN connection itself that was being blocked.
- The connections weren't blocked, but monitoring sw on my laptop detected the content in the browser and blocked it (this was a company laptop). I saw the same page/message on my table that had no VPN, so I think the page was served up from the hotel server.
Aside from the foolishness of using a company laptop to surf porn (I would argue that's a reasonable thing to do while on a business trip where I cannot carry 2 laptops, but that's debatable), how can I better understand what was blocking my access, and make sure that BolehVPN works as I expect?

It's a bit hard to troubleshoot this issue now, since you're no longer there and using that internet source. However, since you got this message on both FullyRouted and SurfingStreaming, it's quite possible that the VPN itself was blocked from connecting by the hotel there.
1. Is out.
2. Is a possibility.
3. Is easily tested, by using another internet source to access the same site.
In the future, you should check if the VPN was running. Do this by visiting www.myip.dk (http://www.myip.dk) before and then after you connect to the VPN. Your IP should change if you connected to a FullyRouted or SurfingStreaming server.
If it doesn't, email us at support@bolehvpn.net with the logs from the VPN client's Log tab. And also try either the Cloak servers or the SurfingStreamingTCP / FullyRoutedTCP servers.
