Title: Hi Reuben what fully routed solutions do you have?
Post by: pltan on June 08, 2009, 12:43:12 AM

Quoting Reuben :

"We do have a fully routed solution for this but VPNs offer very minimal if any benefit to improving game latency. VPN was never meant to be a solution for this. Cheesy"

What fully routed solutions do you provide?

BolehRoute is a UK fully routed server that comes with BolehVPN which gives you your own IP (dynamic tho).

US-Surfing Streaming is a US fully routed that server that also comes with BolehVPN but is only used for surfing and streaming stuff and nothing else.

Both use OpenVPN as its backbone.

Both these fully routed solutions come standard with our BolehVPN package.

However if you want something else, perhaps you could let us know what you need and we will be willing to accommodate.

Well mainly I was hoping to bypass all the latency issues from our beloved Streamyx. whether this is gaming , downloading surfing etc.. I'm on a 4mbps line but it certainly doesn't feel like it.

Will Bolehvpn help with online gaming etc as I do encounter huge lag spikes?

Streamyx also seems to throttle direct downloading from sites such as megashares/rapidshare.

Latency issues won't be solved by bolehvpn.

only our beta service might :D but it's not for downloading.

Sorry, but where is this Beta service listed for registration/signup?

So this will help games such as Runes of Magic, where for some reason the game traffic is actually classified as P2P traffic?

I know it works on WoW but not sure whether it works for Rune of Magic unless you have the ports that the game needs.

where is the server hosted?

Please note that Runes of Magic needs the following ports opened in your
modem/router and firewall configuration:

TCP Ports 80, 21002 and 16400 to 16501

You can also enable upnp in win and/or on the router and they handle the ports automatically
