Title: Bolehvpn with Maxis home fibre
Post by: phantasm0110 on November 09, 2012, 10:53:15 PM
Recently I have change to Maxis home fibre.
Previously during my time with streamyx, Bolehvpn does really help my achieving max speed on my account.
Now using Maxis Home fibre, bolehvpn seem to make the line slower.
Torrent speed without bolehvpn i can achieve 1.1 mB/s download speed.
But connecting using bolehvpn on fullyrouted or proxy, i only get 300-500 kB/s with fluctuating speed.

My question, is there any special configuration i need to do? I have subscribed 1 year package for the bolehvpn, kinda waste if i cant fully use it.

From what i heard from other maxis users. They allow p2p from 2am till 7am. After that, they will throttle. After using vpn they could p2p even after that time frame but slower. They said it was better that nothing at all.

What time did you do this test? Try testing at 2am onwards

Yes, since you are able to p2p during that time, means maxis allow p2p only at a certain time. How about normal hours? Try doing with and without vpn. See how it goes.

hi, tried other time,
without vpn can get around 900 kB/s to 1.1mB/s
with vpn getting fluctuating 300-500kB/s

is maxis messing with vpn speed?

observe connected with vpn, can get 900++ kB/s but the speed will decrease upon time, meaning from 900 it will drop to 800, 700, 600 and on.
not stable compare to without vpn connection

is this on the day?

Well, maxis has been monitoring p2p and implement caps here and there. Does your maxis has a quota?

currently still no quota implement...
problem is im able to get full speed on p2p without bolehvpn.
upon connected to vpn, can get max at 900kB/s only and the speed will gradually decay...so my question is, bolehvpn does not work with maxis home fibre 10mbps package?

Im stuck with the 1 year package, if the vpn cant be used together with my maxis home fibre, then next year wont be continuing the vpn service.

It does work with maxis, but note that your traffic is rerouted to our server and security is added to your data so a slight slowdown is expected.

Other than just p2p, you have access to our IPT account and other several bonuses.

Is this with only one Torrent or multiple torrent? Are you downloading from a public (piratebay etc.) or private tracker(IPTorrent, asiatorrent etc)?

tried proxy,max speed around 800kB/s
speed hovering around 800-900kB/s
although cant get full speed, but so far seem ok.

might need to monitor somemore. Another thing, i found that on proxy, the bolehvpn will have this error
"Mon Nov 12 18:41:36 2012 Authenticate/Decrypt packet error: bad packet ID (may be a replay): [ #51116 ] -- see the man page entry for --no-replay and --replay-window for more info or silence this warning with --mute-replay-warnings
Mon Nov 12 18:42:22 2012 Authenticate/Decrypt packet error: bad packet ID (may be a replay): [ #64190 ] -- see the man page entry for --no-replay and --replay-window for more info or silence this warning with --mute-replay-warnings
disconnect success"

checked, proxy does not give me stable connection as well, keep up and down...

another problem i've encounter during connection using fullyrouted, I cant surf internet when connect to fullyrouted. doesnt seem normal at all...

Do you have any friends that have maxis fiber that can test this too?

not sure about anyone using maxis home fibre and bolehvpn together.
from the maxis forum in lowyat.net, did not see anyone posting problem thou...

tried fullyrouted and proxied, fullyrouted give better download speed, but i cant seem to surf the web using fullyrouted. At first i thought maybe its because i download stuff, so i off my utorrent, and still cant surf internet. Then i disconnect and website back to normal surfing speed.

Then tried proxied, can surf, download speed going up and down from 100 kB/s to 600 kB/s and down....not stable, and give me the error in previous post...

Tried changing your DNS to googles?

I have searched high and low for Maxis home fiber VPN users. Currently there aren't many users using VPN on maxis fiber.

I'm using maxis home fibre 3mB/s line. Got this line around dec 2011. Speed was great at that time, can get max till 3.3mB/s sometimes will go till 4mB/s (without VPN). Starting from this year (2013) I noticed that speed have been capped to 10% of your actual speed where I'm only getting 300kB/s - 24/7 for P2P. With VPN I could get max around 600kB/s from nyaa and 1.5mB/s from ipt. I dont think there is any time limit for P2P, already tested and looks like its on for 24/7.

Not sure for DDL, I still get good speed while downloading games from steam store.

Take note that before this issue, I'll get max speed without VPN - but with VPN on, the speed sucks. But now it's the other way round :P

I recently got 30MB maxis .. I tried with proxy server download with utorrent ..
Seems that I can't get full speed.. I probably can only get half the speed or slower ... to be honest..

But I can download full speed without VPN .. Previously I have this issue as well when I was in Australia ..

Was advised by technical team this can be caused by poor routing to the server. changing to specific server could solve the problem , or at least improve the download speed..

now I just download without VPN
