Title: Torrenting on Virtual Machine
Post by: yoginog on July 14, 2015, 02:34:57 PM
Hello

I am running windows 8 on a virtual machine within a mac, and have never been able to successfully configure utorrent or qbitorrent on the windows side. Streaming words just fine as soon as I turn off the proxy and/or VPN.  I've tried proxied settings, fully routed settings, and all specific config instructions from boleh.

Does anyone have any advice?

Should I run the boleh client from the native mac or windows?

Any help is much appreciated

Errr. Is your virtual machine network set to bridged or NAT?

Try setting up the BolehVPN client on your Mac and connecting to the FullyRouted servers. See if this passes the virtual machine traffic through it as well.

At this point, it is Shared. The other two options are Host-Only and Bridged.

Currently the vpn and internet are working fine coming through the mac to the VM. only problem is p2p

In VirtualBox it's better to use Bridged, especially if you want to get into running OpenVPN on the guest, as well as the host, or playing around with Tor, or other goodies... ;)

Hi,
What are you using as the VM on Mac? I'm on OSX Yosemite with Parallel and its working fine running all the VM with vpn. Its how I test whether our GUI works on windows or mac older versions and various other OSes.

If its working on normal traffic it should also work for p2p unless you have a filtering agent or firewall blocking your VM traffic to ports other than 80 or 443.
