[Newbie] VPN questions
« on: December 09, 2013, 06:30:07 AM »
I'm a total newbie to this VPN & Torrent stuff so please no yelling at me. :)
I want to torrent and find a few stuff. I have a few questions...

~~ Question #1 ~~
I'm in the USA should I be connecting to USA servers (I get full speed this method) or servers in other countries (this method is really slow like 5-10Mbit only)?
I'll be protected anonymously either way correct doesn't matter if I'm using IP from USA or another country?

~~ Question #2 ~~
First time I connect with BolehVPN, my Windows 7 network it pops up asking Home Network, Work Network or Public? I can choose Home or Work like normal? Since I'm on a shared VPN IP can other people see me or am I isolated? I'm guessing isolated but just want to be 100% sure.

Update: That link update in question #3 answers my #2 question, basically says to set local network to usual Home/Work and for VPN to Public.

~~ Question #3 ~~
Does BolehVPN connection software have a safety measure if VPN drops connection while I'm still torrenting does it disable internet connection on my PC or will it reveal my IP address.

Update: I was able to find this for question #3 browsing through the forum. http://www.bolehvpn.net/forum/index.php?topic=7486.0

If you set up your uTorrent like this guide it will stop if you lose connection.

Hi there

1. You will be protected either way, no matter which country you connect to. For speed, geographically closer servers should give better speeds, but we recommend testing out each server to see which gives the best performance for you.

2. Set it to public.

3.The BolehVPN client itself has a safety feature built in, where it will freeze your internet connection temporarily, in the event that OpenVPN reports a sudden disconnect from the server. However as this relies on OpenVPN reporting a disconnect, we strongly recommend using a firewall solution instead.

See our guides for Windows firewall and Comodo firewall
