TAP-Windows adapter error
« on: September 01, 2013, 04:51:46 PM »
I tried installing VPN app on my laptop with Windows 8. Every time when I am trying to connect for the first time it gives me this error - "there are no TAP-Windows adapters on this system.  You should be able to create a TAP-Windows adapter by going to Start -> All Programs -> OpenVPN -> Add a new TAP-Windows virtual ethernet adapter."

Well... I could not find OpenVPN in All Programs. When I installed it on my PC Windows 7, during installation it installed tap driver. For some reason on Windows 8 I did not get the same popup to install it. Should I install it manually? Where can I get the current tap driver Win8?
Thanks!

Are you using 64 bit or 32 bit? Try going to this link openvpn.net/index.php/open-source/downloads.html and download the OpenVPN installer. Only choose to install the TAP adapter, see if you can connect after that.

Thank you very much! Per your instructions, I installed tap driver and was able to connect with no issues.
