Post by: gashbell on March 15, 2015, 01:53:36 AM
I got these network attacks while using FullyRouted Luxembourg. Is it safe?

What is running at the port being attack?
If its p2p, then it should be ok as firewall tends to think that p2p is ddos or sync flood. So its a false positive.
Just to be sure, check what application is running at that port and configure your firewall to allow or block that port if no application is listening on that port.

Install http://www.malwarebytes.org/ (http://www.malwarebytes.org/) as a secondary backup.  I use kaspersky but Malwarebytes detects things that kaspersky misses.

Chances of getting hacked behind the VPN server are pretty slim to none.

pkrisnin, in regards to gettting hacked, AV apps aren't going to help.

You need a type of IDS...

Also if you guys really care about Security & Privacy online, unless you have some Extreme Geek Experience, then I highly recommend if you want to keep using only Windows, then learn how to run Windows, or something like Tails in Virtualbox.

Keep most of your online activities in a VM and you can kiss problems goodbye! ;)

If that's the case , what does KAS firewall do anyway. Only make intrusion attempt harder ?

You were mentioning Malwarebytes detects things that kaspersky misses, which came across more about Malware/Virus detection, that is the reason I mentioned what I did.

Your Standard firewall blocks ports, so of course this makes intrusion harder.

I was pointing out using an IDS, which is an Intrustion Detection System. Your basic standard firewall is not an IDS.

Nowadays combinations of firewalls and IDS can be blended together, from what I've read Kaspersky Internet Secuity uses HIPS (Host Based Intrustion Detection).

Another option, throw away microsoft on your next computer purchase and get a mac, mac mini is quite good than most pc out there. U get less virus or malwares and a lot less updates.

PitBoss, LOL...

Better yet, throw away MS & MAC, both proprietary loads of BS if you ask me, and get ---> LINUX! :)

If you guys don't know it you should check of the Freedom Software Foundation;

And their other site Defective By Design;

Start putting price on Linux and don't give it free. Learned from Apple, when OSX was free, they can't catch up to MS. Now that you have to pay for it, more are buying them and somehow the more pricey the devices, the more they sell.

Who wants to tell friends, 'hey I bought this for free'. They prefer to hear others saying, 'hey where did you buy that stuff?'.
BUT everyone is proud to say 'hey i downloaded this great piece of movie for free'.

...and..we are off topic
