MNDR4000 VPN Router Setup using DD-WRT
« on: November 21, 2015, 01:30:12 PM »
Hello folks,

I am using a 22000 "OpenVPN" built (more recent than the recommended 21386), my built is a vpnkong. However I've been having problems masking my connection behind the VPN. Basically the client will connect to the internet but it would be a direct connection. As if there was no vpn.

The biggest two errors I keep getting are:

time of error: TLS Error: TLS key negotiation failed to occur within 60 seconds (check your network connectivity)
time of error: TLS Error: TLS handshake failed

any idea on how to fix this please?

You sure this is MNDR4000? Or a Netgear WNDR4000?

Have you ever been able to connect to any servers? If not, then probably a configuration error on the router...

DId you check the Bolehvpn dd-wrt guide?

http://www.bolehvpn.net/ddwrt.php

Depending on your version of firmware, it should say in the settings; nsCertTypeVerification make sure you have this checked.

Make sure you've copied in the files below correctly, meaning no added spaces on the tops or bottom, along with any thing extra added by mistake.

    TLS Auth Key - ta.key
    CA Cert - ca.cert
    Public Client Cert - yourusername.cert
    Private Client Key - yourusername.key

Under the Additional Config section you should have these 3 added;

float
sndbuf 131072
rcvbuf 131072
