Newbie ask

Hi, I'm very interested on the VPN.
But i'm using wireless at home with TM net 4mbps shared with 3 laptop.
My question is:
Can i use VPN with wireless?
Or there's a must to put on cable?

as long as you're behind a streamyx connection, vpn DOES help to improve your local client's p2p speed.

because the speed might fluctuating up and down

Mean it should be ok to use vpn thru wireless?
Coz my house is just a small apartment and my wireless is in living room.
Any my signal to the wireless is always in excellent.
So, which mean i should able to get a good connection from vpn also right?

excellent wireless connection to your home router = no difference than connecting a lan cable to it. If you're still in doubt just sign up the 3 days evaluation.

A strong wireless connection to your router is fine. You may purchase a lan cable if you wish, it may or may not affect your downloading speeds that much. However, if you do subscribe to BolehVPN, be aware that whether or not you are connecting to a wireless router, your download speed may still be slow.

This could be caused by several other factors, such as:
a)Bad ip with bad routing to BVPN servers
b)Your other roommates hogging all the bandwith
c)Lack of seeders

4Mbps line will get around what speed from vpn?

unless reuben capped vpn, else you'll get, theoretically,

4Mbps = 4x1024/8 = 512KB/s

minus noise + peer quality + packet loss from vpn host, you can laugh secretly if you get over 400KB/s

approximate 360 kB/sec maximum assuming seeder/peers are good.

adam7979 u forgot to take off PPPoE overhead and VPN overhead

Broken record: Don't forget that those numbers are merely a rough estimate, and will decrease if your roommates are also downloading / using the net heavily.

imagine the plus highway, heavy traffic, especially when it comes to toll, everybody queued up @ the cash lane. ok you have smart tag *vpn*

bam, you still have to share the same highway with other users after the toll plaza, only thing is you're not limited by the slow cash paying process (tmnut's speed cap)

if, if, too many ppl use vpn (everyone got smart tag) you'll still be slowed down.....
