hi Guys,
Anyone experiencing utorrent 2.2 crash?
recently upgraded to the 2.2 version, all proxy configs remained the same
connect to bolehvpn> launch utorrent
speed remains 0.0 then when you try to move the window, it'll show [not responding]
uninstall and re-installed again.
still the same results.
so no choice but to ...
end up with bitcomet.
it's a shame really because utorrent was really compact, but any of you guys experience the same thing or discovered a workaround?

I know 2.2 will crash but 2.02?

Just to confirmed that UT 2.2 does hang on my PC (even no GUI appear after clicking on the icon in systray).
I downgraded to 2.0.4 for now. I guess latest doesn't always means better.

This all started last 2 weeks.
No matter what version you are using.
1.8.5 takes about a week to hang, 2.2 takes 30 seconds to hang.
It looks like speed connected. MY uttorent keeps hanging for speeds above 152kB/s
BTW does this patch solve the reason for people to upgrade to uttorent 2.0 above

Uh, 2.0.4 and below should work fine. Only reported problems are with 2.2. Check the CPU and Memory usage of your uTorrent applications when they hang.
Not sure what the patch is about, but I'd recommend you use 2.0.4, I'm not too trusting in microsoft and their patches.

uh how to downgrade?
i downloaded the installer but after i install it still goes back to 2.2.
do i need to uninstall the 2.2 first then only install back 2.0.4?
if so then what would happen to the things that i have been downloading?

Uninstall 2.2, just save the torrents and then it will rehash.

Looks like 2.0.4 just hang for me after an hour or so. :'(
Only 1.8.5 last the longest before hanging.

2.2 hangs almost immediately when run...with all the symptoms stated in other posts above...
have downgraded back to 2.0.4 (22967) which seems to be working well so far...

same problem here..just downgraded to 2.0.4 :( saw some1 from our boleh reported this to utorrent forum :P

New beta apparently fixes this issue.
From their change log:
- Fix: fix bug in UDP socks5 support which would cause infinite loops

The latest beta version of uTorrent http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=88772 has had the freezes fixed. Ran a test with checkmytorrentip.com and it returned the VPN IP instead of my real IP, so it's probably more secure than 2.0.4.
We recommend using either 2.0.4 if you're in need of stability, but the latest beta should be fine for those who want additional security and don't mind the small risk of a undiscovered bug.
2.0.4 is still the most stable, latest beta crashes after extended useage.

I'm still getting the freeze with build 24266. Same result since build 23271 in fact ^-^. Were then any settings you used that were different from the recommended settings for use with BolehVPN?

No. However I only tested it for about 30 minutes, reports have been that freezing occurs after an hour or more of extended useage.

I have gone back to using uTorrent 2.0.4!

I get the freeze immediately upon starting it up. Oh well, 2.0.4 isn't so bad.

2.2 beta build 24567 seems ok, no problems for past hour or so. I'll update if a problem crops up.

Ah well, I meant that I would update only after hitting a problem...
Oh well :). Anyway, no problems at all so far.
Note, you have to enable the new security features if you are going from 2.04 to 2.2 directly.

Running overnight, over 12 hours with full speed (~160KB/s) without any issue, now I can say this latest beta really fixed that proxy problem.
I haven turn on the Proxy Privacy features as yet for the pass test, turned on now to see what'll happen, continue full speed test.
For the information I did an upgrade like I usually did, keeping every settings, files intact by just replacing the EXE, so far no problem, so it's safe to do a direct upgrade rather than start fresh new.
uTorrent version: 2.2.1.24567 beta
OS: Windows XP SP3.
Intel Atom N230 + 1GB RAM.
DLink DGE-530T Gigabit network card
VPN: PrivateTracker

anyone know where to get 2.0.4? the link http://download.utorrent.com/2.0.4/utorrent.exe is not longer working.

which beta version?
I just updated from 1.85 to 2.21 B24796 and it hanged all the time besides using up 50% of my memory and slowing my computer.
Am going back to tried and tested old 1.85

hd-torrents tracker wont allow the new 2.2 utorrent. forgot to copy what it said at the tracker tab but it sounded something like 'i'm sorry, we do not allow utorrent version 2.2 blablabla..' got this error some days ago and im now back to 1.85.

Did you update from within 1.85 or completely remove/uninstall 1.85 before installing the new 2.21 beta 24769 ?
If memory serves, I saw an earlier post which recommends complete removal of any previous version before installing the beta 2.21 anew.
I did just that, removed 2.04 and 2.21 beta is running fine.

We always recommend removing one version first, ticking 'Delete saved settings' when uninstalling, before installing a new version. This helps prevent conflicts and so on.

thanks maxbudin and Chris. I did not see the earlier post and updated my ver 1.85.
Now uninstalled the old version and reinstalled the beta version. Seems to be running smoothly for the past 3 hours.

you need to use 2.2.1 RC1 not 2.2
