Title: Gaming Mouse
Post by: alpha on April 22, 2008, 02:13:05 PM
Guys....
can anyone please tell me, whats the difference between Infrared(3g) and Laser(3g) mouse?
I am currently looking at Razer DeathAdder and Razer Lachesis.
Any help is appreciated~

Razer Deathadder

Razer Lachesis

Assuming i am a hardcore gamer.
I only change my mouse once in a blue moon, therefore i prefer to buy something better which last.
Looking at razer due to its design.

Pairing this mouse with a Razer Lycosa.

Apparently laser is supposedly more accurate but lately it's been shown to have issues so they moved on to 3g infrared.

A slight loss in dpi for more stability means nuts :D I don't think u'll notice a 200 dpi loss so just go for the infra red.

I use a Razer Boomslang CE myself.

tanx erun....
having different views around...some say go for laser...some say go for infrared...

but none telling me the details as u did erun...

guess its up to luck then.
go to the shop...which ever stock they have, just grab.
SInce the interface/design is the same.

Well i had a razer copperhead which uses the laser and it had more problems than the diamondback and the boomslang CE which are both infrared devices.

Usability I could not feel the difference. One is 1800 dpi one is 2000 dpi...

higher DPI, so like... DUH!!!...

im using A4Tech X7 now.. budget, i know..

it has on the fly DPI switching..
600-800-1200-1600-2000-2500DPI

but i just stick it to 2500 and cruise all the way..

i oso not sure wat it is.. but since im using this mouse which can change on the fly, can see the difference..

the higher the DPI, the more sensitive the mouse is..
in 2500, i just move mouse a little it will move fast on the screen.. at the lower, 600 or so DPI, really slow the movement.. it makes me feel like the mouse is heavy..

at 600DPI, ur hand must move around alot on the pad..
at 2500DPI, i no need lift my hand oso.. the mouse move 1 cm cukup, will cover the whole screen, from end to end

this is from user point of view lah, from day to day usage :)

DPI = Dots Per Inch. Literally.

A mouse with a 2500DPI rating means it samples 2500 dots every inch. Try dotting that many with a pen. :D

DPI...now i know wats that for....
I think i am going for DeathAdder instead.

Wireless, i am trying my best to stay away from wireless...
my optical microsoft wireless, has reached its age. Used it for more than 4 years now.

Always-SLEEP On.
Wireless reception bad.
Battery runs out every 3-4 days.(Energiner somemore...)
Scroll button size has expanded. Touching the IC board inside the mouse.

Now i prefer to have Wired!
