bolehvpn on Mikrotik
« on: April 03, 2016, 03:25:23 AM »
Good day,

Has anyone successfully configure bolehvpn as openvpn client on mikrotik? Mine is RB2011, using TM unifi and ipv6 is reachable.

p/s: I'm new to mikrotik and zero knowledge of Linux/networking. The seller fix everything for me. Buy mikrotik because fed-up with tp-link and asus.

Thanks.

Are you using this for OpenVPN server or client?

DD-WRT is very easy to set up for OpenVPN client.

I also found this Wiki page;

Thanks for the reply. I using Bolehvpn profile as openvpn client.

I did some homework and read it in some forum (Hide My Ass VPN). I tried and feel I'm failing at NAT masquerade of PPPOE(TM Unifi) and openvpn client (Bolehvpn).

Could use some help regarding Mikrotik.

Thanks.

yup, already saw that one. Followed it step by step. Even try various FullyRouted ip adress but still failed. Try changing Cipher from blowfish 128 to AES256 but still failed.

Can I ask 1 silly question? Does BolehVpn allow manual setup same as Hide My Ass?

Thanks.

Not sure what you mean about manual like hidemyass?

When I was looking at the hidemyass screen shots, do you have the same options, with the OVPN Client section?

https://support.hidemyass.com/hc/en-us/article_attachments/201140007/1.png

You can use your own OpenVPN client, or a router firmware that supports OpenVPN like dd-wrt, etc...

So it's manual in these regards, you don't have to use the BolehVPN client.

I'm sorry. In 1st attachment, clearly I didnt noticed that I had to enable 'IP-Services-www.ssl'. The package is for copying SSL certificate into RouterOS.

Then I tried again step by step as in Hide My Ass but failed. Attached together is log and setting of bolehvpn on openvpn client. The 2nd attachment was openvpn client setting and last attachment I tried using L2TP from BolehVPN.

The purpose of all this is to have my Appletv and Amazon kindle to access US streaming channel by means of mikrotik RB2011.

Thanks.

I sent a request for support to help you.

There are no other OpenVPN Client options, so you can use the two certificates, and two keys?

L2TP is better for when you're going mobile, I wouldn't recommend it for daily use on a network.

Just a side note, do you really need this level of a router? If not I'd recommend using something with either Asus Merlin firmware, or a router capable of using dd-wrt.

I personally use dd-wrt on a Home network and love it! :)

Thanks for the help. Planning to use BolehVPN for long time. Quite safe :)

Yup, I have only ca.crt, ta.key, my.crt and my.key. I've tried all cert as per Hide My Ass guide.

I've tried Tp-link (WDR941, 1043nd and 4300)  and Asus (AC56U and RT-AC1200hp) for my home. Even you flashed it ddwrt, tomato or openwrt, still cant beat mikrotik. I cant overstressed both brands router. It become hot and afterwards hang.

Anyway, looking forward for a solution. Thanks.

Don't post the name of your certs and keys! :)

Hi,

In your case, we are unable to support it because of the certificate based authentication.
We do not use Username/Password authentication.

Sorry for any inconveniences caused
