VPN gave up user information to authority

Users would be "naive" to believe that paying a firm called Hidemyass to hide their ass would actually involve some ass-covering, according to the blog post.

We keep no log files on our VPN servers, nor do we tie in user details with connection info. As for the torrentfreak article, we've sent them a reply recently, not sure how we missed their email.

Well, it is bad PR. Hope they update their article. Might bring more business in.

Yeah they confirmed it in the comments but we'll see if they update the posts. I don't want to push. It is partly our fault for not replying sooner but good to know that they acknowledged our response and have some ppl commenting favourably on us.

So do you lease other servers that do keep logs?

I believe our game servers might keep logs for catching hackers. Other than that, nope.

How about the seedboxes? Are logs kept on those?

If they did, I'd be in worse trouble than any other member, TRUST :P

Seedbox logs are not kept but due to the files being stored on the server itself, it's much harder to justify esp if it's sitting there for a long while.

But we don't actively monitor it and we haven't been receiving abuse reports.

VPNs are safer in that sense on a legal stand point.

shadowdrifter: our VPN servers do not keep logs. Game servers yes but that's not about privacy anyway :D
