a DNS question
« on: May 01, 2012, 02:29:57 AM »
Hi
!st post in this forum, I have just purchased a trial of BolehVPN after seeing many great write ups in Wilders.
So far so good, I just have 1 query.... Im using the fully routed switzerland server and when I attempt to check for DNS leaks at
 -   https://www.dns-oarc.net/oarc/services/dnsentropy   - I cant get to the results page the test eventually times out.
The test at   -   http://www.dnsleaktest.com/   -  doesnt want to wosk at all, and my favorate test at Steve Gibsons GRC reads as follows...

One or More Nameservers Made Too Few Queries
During the DNS Nameserver Spoofability test, the nameserver(s) listed below failed to emit a sufficient quantity of queries to allow a reliable and accurate appraisal of the nameserver's spoofability. This is an unusual occurrence that typically means that some form of network intermediation, such as a bandwidth or query load-balancer may be interposed between the nameserver and the public Internet. The results from such low-query nameservers can typically be ignored since they are very likely spurious. However, since we did receive some queries, they are listed below in the interest of accuracy and completeness:
Nameserver IP   Queries   Server Name, if any
190.211.253.2 opens in separate window   20   dns01.vaultvpn.com

So as you can see I cant seem to get difinitive DNS leak/spoof test results, please can you clarify this for me
thanx

I get same result on this. Not sure why this is happening but running the test directly on the server using linux command line resulted in the following:

[root@swiss ~]# dig +short porttest.dns-oarc.net TXT
porttest.y.x.w.v.u.t.s.r.q.p.o.n.m.l.k.j.i.h.g.f.e.d.c.b.a.pt.dns-oarc.net.
"190.211.253.2 is GOOD: 26 queries in 3.7 seconds from 25 ports with std dev 730"

For the dnsleak test, you may need to do a manual setup as stated here:
http://www.dnsleaktest.com/how-to-fix-a-dns-leak.php
Use solution B.

For automatic fix, solution A, we will include this in the next version of our GUI if it is possible.
