woot pit boss sold graphic card
MSI 8800gt 512 mb priced at rm 950
hope you can priced it lower
so what the difference between this one
also can trade in with my old x1800xl :P?
also got anything from red flag?

The MSI's performance is not the same as this one.

note the much higher clock on the Zotac. If i'm not mistaken they are using slightly higher quality RAM and a larger cooler.

MSI is pure reference base with a minimal overclock that you could have just done urself.. there will always be a price difference between reference and more premium. Frankly I think the price difference is worth the extra boost in performance.

just do a quick look and you'll see how big the perf difference is. The Zotac beats some 8800 GTXes...That's how fast it is.

And no trade ins.

Btw, whts the diff with my Gefore PX8800 GTS TDH WITH 256 MB with Zotac 8800GT AMP 700MHz scores over 8800GTX?
Title: Re: Zotac nVidia 8800GT PCI-E
Post by: Reuben on November 20, 2007, 09:41:51 PM
8800 GT owns the 256 mb 8800 GTS

the new games require a lot of ram and 512 is probably a good bet atm.

it thrashes the 320 mb 8800 gts as well

DDR2 800mhz no value RAM, value RAM is until 667 only.

As for pick-up we can arrange that or we can just ship it out at RM8, probably cheaper that way.

Title: Re: Zotac nVidia 8800GT PCI-E
Post by: foogray on November 22, 2007, 04:45:00 PM
Yes put me down for one. I was worried about the Zotac brand because I hadn't heard of it before this, but now I know they're a sister company to Sapphire I'm willing to give them a chance.

About shipping, what method of shipping was Pit Boss referring to that costs RM8? If it's regular post I'd rather cash and carry it from the Hartamas area or the Kelana Jaya LRT station.  ;)

I have obtained a similar card from Zotac (not the AMP version) earlier this month. I do not know what is bundled with the AMP version. My version of Zotac Geforce 8800gt was plain vanilla version. No games bundled just some wires, drivers disc and that's it.

I believed it is one of the best bang for the buck. Low price with high performance card.

Been using it for almost a month now.

Please be informed that the heat and noise generated by any Geforce8800GT is quite high. (ie. at 60% fan speed it is quite annoying IMO and temperature ranges from 55c-83c)

Also most heatsinks that fit the Geforce 7 series can be used on this particular card. For eg. Zalman CNPS900LED, Artic Cooling Silencer, Thermalright HR-03 and Artic Accelero with Turbo Mod.

Just got my card this morning. Guess I was the last one to receive it out of everyone that ordered due to the courier company fucking up.

City-Link Employee Training Manual:
Q: What do I do if I arrive at the destination and no one is present to receive the package?
A: Return the package to HQ. Delay the shipment by one day. Do not make any attempt to contact the recipient. Avoid calls while maintaining a semblance of working by using this simple formula. Every time the phone rings roll 1D6. Only pick up if the die roll matches the last digit of the current time in minutes. Time to kick back and relax because you have done a fine job!

Gahhh. Anyway I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the version I got is the HDMI one with DVI audio out. It's HDCP compliant too, apparently. If I want to watch HD-DVDs(unlikely, but still a possibility) does everything from disc drive to mobo need to be HDCP compliant too?

Also, what's a cheap and noiseless PSU to use with the card? Everyone in LYN is jizzing all over the Silverstone ST56F (http://www.google.com/search?q=st56f&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a). Good enough? Less? More?

I use an Enermax 535W and the sound is pretty low...avoid coolermasters if noise is an issue.

So I went to PIKOM today and I ended up getting an Enermax 460W for about RM 200. Hope it won't crap out on me.

Everything seems fine with the new card+system. I'm rocking CoD4 at 1920x1200 with everything on high 4xAA and with the anisotropic filtering slider somewhere around the middle. So far the only slowdown I'm getting is when there's a lot of grass around. What is it with grass anyway? Every game I've played it's always the grass that kills the framerate. Fucking grass.
