Germany Proxy back online!

Hi guys,

We’ve resolved the issue with the proxied Germany servers. However, you will have to update your configurations to use it. To do so, go to the Settings tab of the BolehVPN client and hit Update Configs.

If you’re not using the BolehVPN client, you’ll have to update manually, grab your keys and configs from your user portal as usual. Let us know how it goes!

    Hello,

I’m afraid your maintenance on the proxied Germany servers may have had an unexpected side-effect. 🙁

You see, I live in Germany and today I have noticed that whenever I start up my BolehVPN client now, my public IP-address is different than my home IP-address. Instead of listing my real IP-address and my country (Germany), it mentions a different IP-address and says that Europe is my country. I looked up the origins of that IP-address and it seems that it is owned by the CloudFlare CDN Network.

This IP-address issue also seems to have consequences for whenever I connect to one of your servers. For example, when I successfully connected to FullyRouted-Sweden, the public IP-address didn’t change (it was still the CloudFlare one), but the country was changed from “Europe” to “Norway” (while it should have been Sweden). I then tried to connect to a different server, namely FullyRouted-Netherlands. The connection was successful, but there was still something wrong with the IP-address. It was no longer the original CloudFlare one, but it was a completely different one than the server’s. The country was listed as “United States” (while it should have been Netherlands) in the BolehVPN client. And sure enough, when I looked up the origins of that public IP-address, it was indeed an American IP-address – of which it turned out that it also belonged to CloudFlare.

Funnily enough, my IP-address is listed as Dutch (i.e. it’s the same as the Dutch server) on any website that checks what your IP-address is. It seems that perhaps there’s something within the BolehVPN client that misrepresents the public IP-address information? If it’s not that, then maybe there is an issue with CloudFlare or even DNS instead?

By the way, I’m on Windows XP and thus I use version 2.4.5. of the BolehVPN client. I personally doubt that my using an older version is responsible for this, since I used BolehVPN yesterday and there were no public IP-address problems whatsoever at the time.

Anyway, I just thought I would let you know about this, so that you can look into it if you wish to do so. 🙂

Thank you for your service and enjoy the rest of your day!
