BBC iPlayer launches offence against VPN users

You might have encountered an issue getting access to iPlayer recently. This is because the BBC has started blocking a wide range of IP addresses belonging to many VPN services worldwide. This has sadly affected our UK servers as well, but rest assured that we’re working hard on a solution.

The BBC have announced they plan to offer a code-based system to allow Brits abroad access to iPlayer but as this requires a law change both in the UK and EU it is unlikely to come any time soon with some point in 2016 quoted as a possibility.

    Hi,

I understand that this must be frustrating for you, as it is for us. iPlayer is the main reason we use our VPN. Having just signed up for a 6 month contract, is there any form of compensation for those affected by this?

Thanks for getting it sorted! No need to worry about compensation as it was fixed swiftly.

Still can’t get BBC. Can’t connect to any SurfStreaming connections either.
