Step 3 Extracting the Configuration Files

Save the RAR file attached to your subscription e-mail onto your desktop.

Open the RAR file containing 7 files. If you don't have a program that can extract these files, you may download one from 7zip.

Extract all of these files into your C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config folder or wherever you installed your OpenVPN.

IMPORTANT: If you are using Vista or Windows 7, you may have to extract the configuration files to your desktop first. After extracting to your desktop, cut/move those files into C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config and click OK to the Permissions Prompt that comes up.

Step 4 Connecting to the VPN

Start OpenVPN-GUI. You can do this by clicking on Start > Programs > OpenVPN > OpenVPN GUI.

Starting OpenVPN

Please note that OpenVPN by default assumes that Windows is installed in C:\Windows. If you have installed in a different location, please click on this link for further instructions.

Just for testing purposes, to make sure you can connect, just select BolehRoute and then click Connect.

OpenVPN configurations

Wait till the light turns green. Give it a few minutes (usually less) as it looks for a free server for you to connect.

You are now connected to BolehVPN! You can verify this by visiting this site which should give you an IP address that is either in the UK or in Luxembourg.

Now please disconnect the VPN before moving on to the next step which will explain what the 4 different configurations do.

If you having issues connecting to the VPN, you might want to disable any firewalls (software or router based).

We find that sometimes disabling the firewall may not even be enough and requires a complete uninstall of the firewall. If you wish to keep your firewall enabled, just make sure to give the necessary privileges to allow OpenVPN through by making the necessary exceptions.
