Seedbox New Packages coming in Early Jan

We are revamping our seedbox packages by offering you all additional space at no additional charge! We will be moving some of you to a new host to effect this and this will also give users on SB1 and SB2 more RAM to work with.

Those with existing packages will be migrated to the new server with the added space (though your existing data will be wiped). Your new package will be the closest that we have (but will not be lower than what you have currently). However your old box will be accessible UNTIL the 13 January 2010  so you should have sufficient time to consolidate!

The new pricing scheme will be as follows:

Non-GUI

35gb of Space: RM50.00

70gb of Space: RM80.00

GUI-based

35gb of space: RM60.00

70gb of space: RM90.00

PS: Asylum Special Package users have been sent a separate e-mail on our proposed scheme for you guys :D

Streamyx Problems and BolehRoute 3 has issues

Please note that according to one of the better informed tech guys in TM, one of their main servers is down since the 24th December and thus if you’re on TM, you may be experiencing degraded performance. No ETA has been posted on this at this point in time. You may call 100 to see if they have any updates on the problem.

BolehRoute 3 is experiencing issues and will be rectified sometime today.

BolehVPN: Time for Feedback

We’ve been operating since March 2007 and our service has developed a lot from just a handful of users to now over a 1200 users! As we approach the end of 2009, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all our faithful users and welcome our new ones. It’s been a long road and we are glad that you could share it with us!

We’ll like to hear feedback on our service and particularly areas in which we can improve on.

We would especially love to hear from you on the following:

  1. Website layout
  2. Installation Instructions
  3. Support options and the way support issues are handled
  4. Suggested additional features
  5. Payment Options (is there a payment method we don’t support but would like to see added?)
  6. Possible events/promotions
  7. Member get Member Schemes
  8. General comments or anything that comes to mind! (except the ones below) :P

Several things we WON’T be changing are the following:

  1. Pricing (we offer the best price we believe is sustainable)
  2. Local/SE Asian servers (we have done research on this and people have been unwilling to pay the premium for such a service)
  3. Routing issues (this is beyond our control)
  4. Private Tracker Access policy

Out of those posting feedback (via comments), we would reward the best suggested feedback (good or bad) with an additional 30 days of VPN added to their account (the existing account must be still active) so start posting!

OpenVPN 2.1.1 Released

OpenVPN 2.1 has finally come out of beta and a full release is now available.

Although this upgrade is not necessary (in general if it’s not broken, no need to fix it), it does include several bug fixes.

You may download it here.

Seedbox Suggested Revamp

We are planning to revise our seedbox pricing structure (for the better) by increasing the space allowed per user significantly. However, we cannot increase the number of simultaneous torrents running by a lot (if any at all).

We seek your opinion as to what’s an appropriate HDD space for the simultaneous torrents allowed for each package assuming prices remain the same.

This would also necessitate a move of the server as we move to a different host (don’t worry we have experience with this host and use them for some of our VPN servers and they have EXCELLENT support).

TM announces slow browsing to Europe as well

Streamyx is reporting a slowdown in surfing to Europe over their automated helpline. No explanation has been given. Seems like the tech support lines are pretty jammed packed as well as Wolffeh was on hold for 10 minutes without any tech support picking up his call. They’re also still playing that ‘Conficker’ worm crap.

This will have a significant impact on VPN speed for Malaysians as a good proportion of our servers are located in Europe. The US connection doesn’t seem to be performing that well either.

In other words, you’re screwed for now.

We will keep you updated when we receive any further news.
